前言--谈点翻译的事

翻译，在许多情形下不再是什么大不了事。

懂英文的人多得不得了……

机器翻译出来，可能就能解决问题、或者大体上一定程度上解决问题……

许多需求、甚至大量的需求，属于上述解决范围内的问题……

乃至某些程式化的文本，倒真可以按“瓶装水工厂化”处理……

 

然而也有不尽然的时候……

比如学术论文、比如文学艺术作品、比如社会经济政治文化各领域的正式文本、乃至国际的外交的条约协定……

所以说，不能以“工厂化”以偏概全，也不能以“绝不能工厂化”以偏概全……

再说点经验之谈——说说“英美制式”合同协约

以下是做过的一个合同文本中的一段话：

The SELLER shall not be obligated to repair, or to be liable for, damages to the VESSEL, or to any part of the equipment thereof, due to ordinary wear and tear or caused by the defects other than those specified in Paragraph 1 above, nor shall there be any SELLER’S liability hereunder for defects in the VESSEL, or any part of the equipment thereof, caused by fire or accidents at sea or elsewhere, or mismanagement, misoperation, accidents, negligence, or any persons on or doing work on the VESSEL other than the SELLER, its employees, agents or sub contractors.

把它译成中文，第一得要看得懂；第二再用规范的中文表述写出来；自然需要做到语义准确（忠实于原文），读起来通顺流畅——此所谓“信、达、雅”。

下面是另外一个属国际外交范畴的协约的条文中部分内容。

内中说：
甲方保证乙方的（某）占用权，without any interruption or disturbance from the (甲方), or any other person claiming by, from, through, or under the (甲方) or otherwise.

按照上一例所说“第一/第二”两点，就此一例而言，恐怕能够理解清楚（即看得懂）对于很多人已经是极大的难题，更不要说再用规范中文予表述做到“信、达、雅”。

“双方协议商定”的计价方式：
i) 计价单位是 人民币元/每千字（参见以上说明）；
ii) 按页计价：人民币元/每页
iii) 按件计价：双方协议商定该文本的笔译价格。
